Chutes summary

It is being said that all of women's publishing's are not "edgy" enough. That it's a man's world when it comes to an accessible writing. The writings today by some women often have a focal point around a traumatic event. Whether that may be an extremest body, brutal experience, or even a life changing sexual encounter. The people today however are looking for something more aesthetic like the comic. This is because it is able to be herd and seen to public view without as much sensoriazation as writen graphic narratives. The comic that showed the 1979 revolution was powerful to me because of it being short yet extremely political. It showed how in 1 year the way of life in schools for women changed. The other comic of how hundreds of people were killed in a theater on "Black Friday" showed how effective a comic could be. The short and to the point is something that people are looking for in todays fast pace society.

My reaction to this is that I can't believe that a single group of people or a single person can obtain the power to control what people do, think, and how they treat others.
While reading this I asked:
How is it possible to gain this much power?
How often does this happen and has it ever happened here either as a whole or in parts of the country?
Why do these comics possess so much power of persuasion?
